Meet Our Experts: Hair
Salon Owner, Creative Director & Colour Specialist
I started my career in the hairdressing industry 20 years ago! (I know I don’t look that old)!! I joined Mam’s team at 'The Hair Cabin' in Newcastle's infamous Bigg Market, and with her training and guidance was a confident stylist within 1 year. I’ve achieved many goals in my career reaching the regional stage of the L’Oréal professional Colour Trophy competition 5 years running. I completed my 'Colour Specialist' degree with L’Oreal in 2010 and have been a member of the Evolution team, an ID Artist and currently on the A-list team of Colour Specialists across the country. I am extremely passionate about delivering great results for my clients.
Many moons ago… (Too many to count) at the age of 14 I began my training as a junior hairdresser at J & J Laws on Saville Row. The elderly couple who owned the business chose to retire a few years later and I took over the business in my early 20’s… The Salon became known as the Hair Cabin and changed locations to the Bigg market where it remained for over 40 years.. The business became a firm family affair when my daughters Claire and Joanne joined and we decided to rebrand and relocate to Pink Lane where we are now into our 9th year… You do the math!!!! I am officially supposed to be retired however I still come in every Friday morning to do the Friday morning brigade….. A hand full of ladies whose hair I have dressed now for over 50 years!!!! Needless to say after all these years I still love my job.
My journey with At Sisters started 7 years ago when I started as a junior at the age of 17, I have now progressed through to a Senior Stylist. I love all aspects of hair dressing, being able to achieve something different and exciting on every client. I love a challenge, especially colour changes. I am also an extension specialist with Easilocks. Easilocks are a non-glue, no sewing extension which means they are very gentle on the hair! One of my favourite products is Beach Waves, it’s great for not only short textured hair, but for long bouncy hair too. My favourite tool is my razor as you can achieve so many different looks and textures. And Olaplex is fab!!!
